Shipping Assistant

The New York Milk Bank is dedicated to improving the health and survival of infants in need by providing pasteurized donor human milk when their mothers’ own milk is unavailable or insufficient. We are seeking an energetic and motivated person to join our Order Fulfillment department. This team member should have a passion for improving the health of children and a desire to have a positive impact in communities. The Shipping Assistant is an essential role to achieving our mission.

  • Prepares and packs milk orders for shipping to hospitals and other institutions
  • Follows established procedures to ensure milk is documented, shipped, and stored safely
  • Maintains clear, accurate records and a clean and sanitary work area
  • Stocks necessary supplies at the start and end of each day
  • Works independently and as part of the team
  • Provides a high level of customer service and ability to handle sensitive subject matter
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Able to learn new tasks and multi-step processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to maintain clean conditions according to protocols
  • Possess planning and time management skills
  • Able to follow established protocols with significant attention to detail
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Act in a professional manner
  • Working knowledge of MacOS and databases a plus
  • Multi-lingual preferred, specifically Spanish
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety preferred (can be trained)
  • Education and/or work experience: Associates degree preferred
  • Job Type: Part time position, 10:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday, 25 hours/week, non-exempt
  • Salary: $16.50/hour
  • Location: Valhalla, NY
