The New York Milk Bank is dedicated to improving the health and survival of infants in need by providing pasteurized donor human milk when their mothers’ own milk is unavailable or insufficient. We are seeking an energetic person to join our Milk Processing Lab department. This team member should have a passion for improving the health of children and a desire to have a positive impact in communities. Milk Processing Lab Technicians are essential to achieving our mission.

  • Preparing milk for pasteurization including pouring and bottling
  • Conducting the pasteurization process
  • Preparing milk samples for lab testing
  • Cleaning and preparing lab and related equipment for pasteurization
  • Performing routine maintenance of lab equipment
  • Data entry
  • Stocking of supplies at the start and end of each day
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary work area
  • Work independently and as part of the team
  • Assists with inventory management and freezer organization system
  • Other assigned duties as needed
  • Able to maintain clean conditions according to protocols
  • Planning and time management skills
  • Able to follow established protocols with significant attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Database)
  • Able to learn new tasks and multi-step processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of lab or manufacturing practices preferred (can be trained)
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety preferred (can be trained)
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree of science and/or background in science preferred
  • Professional manner
  • Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt position, 40 hours/week.
  • Salary: $18.00
